PowerPoint, Pen Inking and Surface Pro 3 [VIDEO]

PowerPoint, and the entire Office suite for that matter, is fully pen-enabled:

As a result, I’ve enjoyed using the pen and a tablet PC to do quick layouts for my SharePoint presentations. In fact, I’ve been doing this since back in the Windows XP days, and this new video (below) represents a reboot of my old video, which was done on a Windows XP Toshiba hybrid tablet PC. It had a flawless pen experience, but sadly no touch. Not to mention that it weighed 70 million pounds. : )

Anyway, check it out and lemme know what you think:

BTW – if you’re wondering about the video I inserted into a slide, that can be found here.

People who use the Surface Pro pen are smarter than everyone else

Okay, that might not be true. ; ) But I noticed several articles pop up this week talking about the awesome benefits of note-taking, especially handwritten notes. And this is where the Surface Pro plus OneNote really shines. I myself probably have a decade worth of handwritten notes in OneNote, because I’ve been using a pen and Windows tablets since my old Windows XP Toshiba days. : )

I packaged them in a hashtag (#SurfaceProPlusOneNote), but here they are for your convenience:

Save Surface Pro storage space with OneNote Web Links

So, we all know that you can right-click on a page in OneNote to get a link…

…that we can then paste into another page as a convenient hyperlink to that page:

But did you know that, assuming the page is stored in the cloud (OneDrive, SharePoint), if you paste that link outside of OneNote, you also get a link to the web version of that page?…

Three reasons why handwriting on OneNote Mobile is better than the rest

imageimageIf you’re part of the OneNote Android Beta testing you know that the latest version added ink/handwriting to the app. Although handwriting is new to OneNote mobile, it’s been a part of OneNote and Windows for a loooong time, tho we’ll save that topic for a different post. Better late than never for OneNote, but here’s why this late-coming feature is worth using, and is better than the other options you might have for handwritten notes.

Office Mix & the Surface Pro–Awesome Together!

imageWell, Microsoft has done it again. They’ve created a site called Office Mix that puts new power into the already very kool PowerPoint application, and they’ve given educators, students, and bloggers like me another powerful tool for presenting our work.

Visit the site for all the details, and to see how others are using the tool. As for now, I just want to mention a few reasons why Office Mix is particularly kool for us Surface Pro and Windows 8 users!:

I Hate Microsoft for Creating the Surface Pro 3

Right now I’m hating Microsoft. Why? Cuz they built a machine that I couldn’t live without. It was so compelling that I rushed to upgrade - take my money, MSFT! I love you and I hate you! : )

All jokes aside, here’s just a few reasons why the Surface Pro 3 (SPro3) is so awesome. This is from the perspective of a super-happy Surface Pro 1 (SPro1) owner. Although the SPro3 has advantages over both its predecessors, it’s a huge upgrade for someone like me, much more so than someone upgrading from the Pro 2. Yes, I could have lived with what I had, but the new stuff was just too appealing:
